On October 12th, the Trust for Public Land held a family-friendly Community Open House to welcome everyone to the property, share information about existing site conditions, and hear from County residents about their visions for the property. The Open House was part of The Trust for Public Land’s community engagement process to reimagine the future of the 157-acre property. The event was well attended by long-term and new residents from all over Marin and the San Geronimo Valley. Thank you to everyone who showed up to participate in the conversation!
Attendees were joined by WRT, LLC; Trout Unlimited; ESA; and community volunteers who helped to run activities across the property. A huge thanks is owed to all those who volunteered their time to the day, including Trout Unlimited volunteers, Kelly McMenimen for running several creative art projects for kids (and some adults…), Emile Mulholland for leading bike tours around the property, David Jenkins for coordinating the musical program, and Breeze Kinsey for running a disc golf activity. Local musician Viv Sharp played at the rock stage while the Red Rooster food truck supplied burritos and tacos.
Representatives from the Trust for Public Land, WRT LLC; ESA; and Trout Unlimited were on site to answer questions, and there were numerous opportunities to provide feedback on future uses of the property. Interests ranged from restoration, regenerative agriculture, education, golf and other recreational opportunities, to community gathering and social spaces, among other uses.
